Editorial Policy

How we create, source, review and maintain editorial content and contributor accountability.

Last updated September 22, 2026Designed for clarity and accountability
Editor review required

This page still contains starter language. It is intentionally visible here so it cannot be mistaken for a finished, jurisdiction-specific policy.

Review before publishing. This is a clone-ready operational template, not jurisdiction-specific legal advice. Edit it so it accurately describes the real site, business, services, data flows and laws that apply.

Our editorial purpose

We publish to help people complete a practical task or understand the reasoning behind it. Pages should provide real utility rather than exist only to target a search phrase.

Authorship and responsibility

Published work should connect to a real contributor when authorship materially helps readers judge the content. Public profiles should describe genuine roles, experience and areas of focus without invented credentials.

Research and sources

Writers and tool builders should prefer primary, official or otherwise authoritative sources where they are appropriate. Sources should support the actual claim or methodology rather than be added decoratively.

Original value

Guides should add useful explanation, examples, comparisons, structure or first-party insight. Calculator pages should explain the method and limitations when those details help a reader use the result correctly.

Review and higher-risk topics

The depth of review should rise with the consequences of an error. Health, finance, legal, construction and other higher-stakes topics may require stronger sourcing, verification or qualified review.

Technology and automation

Technology may assist research, drafting, testing or production, but publication responsibility remains with the people operating the site. Automated output should not replace factual review or create false expertise.

Commercial independence

Advertising, affiliate relationships or sponsorships should not be presented as evidence that a factual claim or calculation is correct. Material commercial relationships should be disclosed where relevant.

Updates and corrections

Material errors should be corrected. Important methodology changes or corrections may receive a visible note so readers can understand what changed and why.
